About Me
CLAUDIA KESSEL | WRITER | FUNDRAISER
Raised in the Midwest and living in Williamsburg, Virginia, I earned a BA in music at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign,
an MA in Public Policy (environmental policy) at George Washington University, and am currently pursuing my MFA in Creative Writing
at Old Dominion University.
For two decades I’ve worked primarily in the nonprofit sector as a fundraiser, specializing in grant writing, donor communications,
and prospect research. It’s been a privilege to raise funds for nonprofits that further causes I care deeply about - conservation, animal welfare, education, and the arts. I’m now working as a freelance grant writer and welcome new clients!
As a vocalist, I sing with professional choral ensembles and serve as a choir section leader at several churches in southeastern Virginia.
I’m beginning my journey as an author; my poems have been published in literary journals like Literary Mama, Ekstasis, Lullwater Review,
and Richmond magazine.
